Chapter 1 rewards its 'Great 1s'
30 MAR 2011
National housing charity Chapter 1 has once again recognised the outstanding achievements of its staff, service users and volunteers. At an award ceremony in London last week, awards were given for:
• Engagement with the wider community
• Involvement of service users
• Personal achievements of individual service users
• Sustainability and environmental responsibility
• Customer service
• Unsung heroes
This is the second year the charity has run its award programme. Chief Executive, Geoff Hawkins, explained: ‘The Great 1s recognise the wealth of innovative talent, dedication and commitment within the Chapter 1 family of staff, service users and volunteers. All the nominees are winners. They have all shown how we are changing lives, one by one. Our projects are very diverse but they all put their service users at the heard of what we do. At Chapter 1 everyone is treated as an individual, with individual needs.’
More than 40 nominations were received and the judging panel included representatives of the Chapter 1 Board, staff and service users. The winners came from as far afield as Manchester, Kent, Warwickshire and Cornwall and were presented with their awards by Rob Taylor, Chair of the Chapter 1 Trustees. A further eight projects and individuals were recognised for being highly commended by the judges.
