Exeter Shilhay Community Ltd was a not-for-profit charity supporting people who are homeless and vulnerably housed in Exeter, East and Mid-Devon, focusing on the needs and aspirations of each individual it works with to improve confidence, self-esteem. living skills and overall quality of life. Shilhay managed the support and recovery services within Gabriel House, has a further four community-based resettlement projects, is a partner in the Exeter response team working on the government’s ‘No Second Night Out’ initiative and runs a domestic contract helping clients to access volunteering opportunities and changing.

Exeter Shilhay Community has now joined with Chapter 1.
Both organisations work with some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our society, and have a common set of values and a vision for the future that is based on changing lives one by one.
Shilhay is seeking to preserve its identity and skills within a larger organisation that will help give financial strength and resilience, as well as the opportunity to flourish and grow.
Chapter 1 is looking to extend its presence in Devonby adding to existing projects that will improve its services for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
