Windows 95, 98, 2000, Me

Keyboard Shortcuts

Here are some of the most commonly used keyboard shortcuts.

  1. Zoom in by pressing 'Ctrl' + '+'.
  2. Zoom out by pressing Ctrl' + '-''.
  3. Reset page-zoom by pressing 'Ctrl' + '0'.
  4. Move to the next field in a form by pressing 'Tab'.
  5. Move to the previous field in a form by pressing 'Shift + 'Tab'.
  6. Activate a selected link by pressing 'Enter'.
  7. Switch between full-screen and regular views of the browser window by pressing 'F11'.
  8. Go to previous page by pressing 'Alt' + 'Left Arrow'.
  9. Go to next (previously visited) page by pressing 'Alt' + 'Right Arrow'.
  10. Scroll up the page by pressing 'Up Arrow'.
  11. Scroll down the page by pressing 'Down Arrow'.
  12. Scroll up in larger increments by pressing 'Page Up'.
  13. Scroll down in larger increments by pressing 'Page Down'.
  14. Move to the beginning of a page by pressing 'Ctrl' + 'Home'.
  15. Move to the end of a page by pressing 'Ctrl' + 'End'.
  16. Display shortcut menu for selected hyperlink by pressing 'Shift' + 'F10'.

Altering Colours

If you are having difficulties with the colours displayed on web pages, altering the colours used may improve your experience.

  1. Click 'Start' or press the 'Windows' logo key or press 'Ctrl' + 'Esc'.
  2. Hover over 'Settings' or press 'S'.
  3. Click 'Control Panel' or press 'C'.
  4. Double click on 'Display' or press 'D' until 'Display' is highlighted, and press 'Enter'.
  5. Click the 'Appearance' tab or press 'Ctrl' + 'Tab' until it is at the front.
  6. Below 'Scheme' is a drop down box that contains various colour schemes. Click the arrow, and select a new scheme. Or, press 'Alt' + 'S' and use the arrow keys to move through the various schemes and press 'Enter'.
Windows XP/Vista/7

Altering Colours

  4. Double click on 'Display'.
  5. Click the 'Appearance' tab or press 'Ctrl' + 'Tab' until it is at the front.
  6. Below 'Color Scheme' is a drop down box that contains various schemes. Click on the required scheme or press 'Alt' + 'C' and use the arrow keys to move through the various schemes and press 'Enter'.
  7. Click 'Apply' then click 'OK'.
Mac OS X

Keyboard Shortcuts

  1. Zoom in by pressing 'Ctrl' + '+'.
  2. Zoom out by pressing Ctrl' + '-''.
  3. Reset page-zoom by pressing 'Ctrl' + '0'.
  4. Undo the last action by pressing 'Apple' + 'Z'.
  5. Switch between current running programs by pressing 'Apple' + 'Tab'.
  6. Select the next icon or file alphabetically on the desktop or in a folder by pressing 'Tab'.
  7. Open a highlighted folder, document or application icon by pressing 'Apple' + 'O'.
  8. Close the current window by pressing 'Apple' + 'W'.
  9. Copy selected textgraphics to the clipboard by pressing 'Apple' + 'C'.
  10. Paste textgraphics from the clipboard by pressing 'Apple' + 'V'.
  11. Cut selected textgraphics to the clipboard by pressing 'Apple' + 'X'.

Altering your colours

If you are having difficulties with the colours displayed on web pages, altering the colours used may improve your experience.

  1. Press 'Ctrl' + 'F2'.
  2. Click 'System Preferences' or use the arrow keys and press 'Enter'.
  3. Click 'Universal Access' or press 'Tab' until 'Universal Access' is highlighted and press the 'Spacebar'.
  4. Click 'Seeing' tab or press 'Ctrl' + 'F7' to highlight one of the four tabs and use the arrow keys to select 'Seeing' tab.
  5. To change to a high contrast white on black colour scheme click 'Switch to White on Black' button or press 'Tab' to highlight the 'Switch to White on Black' button and press 'Spacebar'.
